Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Retail, has announced its partnership with Sri Lankan beverage powerhouse Elephant House to bring the Elephant House brand to India. This move is part of Reliance’s strategy to expand its beverage offerings in a market that is primarily dominated by Coca-Cola and Pepsi.Reliance has been actively scaling up its FMCG business, focusing on its own private labels and the acquisition of popular and regional brands. The addition of Elephant House to its portfolio will further strengthen Reliance’s diverse FMCG offerings, which already include iconic brands such as Campa, Sosyo, and Raskik.

Under the partnership, RCPL will manufacture, market, distribute, and retail beverages under the Elephant House brand in India. Elephant House, owned by Ceylon Cold Stores PLC, is Sri Lanka’s largest listed conglomerate and is known for its range of beverages, including Necto, Cream Soda, EGB (Ginger Beer), Orange Barley, and Lemonade, all marketed under the Elephant House brand. By introducing the well-established Elephant House brand to the Indian market, Reliance aims to offer consumers a wider choice and value proposition through quality products. This move will also help Reliance bolster its growing beverage portfolio and compete with established players like Coca-Cola and Pepsi.

While no specific timeline has been provided, Reliance has stated that the partnership will soon make Elephant House beverages available to Indian consumers. It is likely that Reliance will initially focus on re-establishing the brand in the markets where it had a presence before the partnership.
