Salt Range Foods announced its plans to expand the retail sales of its honey products throughout India due to the positive response it has received from its exports. The Guwahati-based company, which was established in 2014, originally began as a honey distributor but has since developed its own production plant with a current capacity of 2,000 tonnes per year.

According to Salt Range Foods Director Pawandeep Singh Kohli, “We are exporting 95 percent of our production to the US, Europe, and Middle East countries. We retail only in Guwahati and have an online presence on Amazon and Flipkart.”

The company, currently participating in the three-day World Food India event in the national capital, plans to expand its retail presence through digital markets. Kohli emphasised the importance of providing high-quality honey in a market where adulteration is common. “Honey is a highly adulterated product. There is a huge demand for quality honey in India, and we want to tap into that demand. We believe our product fulfils the quality norms, considering we are exporting to several nations,” he stated.

Salt Range Foods aims to increase its honey production capacity to 5,000 tonnes annually by 2026. Presently, the company sources honey from regions such as Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, and Bihar and maintains over 500 beehives.

The company offers honey in a variety of flavours, including mustard, Sundarban forest, lichi, and coriander, under the brand name ‘Salt Range.’
