Daikin Airconditioning India revealed its intent to start operations at its third advanced manufacturing unit in India by the end of 2023. Spanning across 75 acres in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, this facility exemplifies Daikin’s dedication to innovation and quality, with a focus on addressing the increasing need for high-quality air conditioning systems within India and across the globe.

Daikin stands as the key investor in the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) program aimed at bolstering local air conditioning production. This substantial initiative is expected to notably enhance Daikin’s production capacity, consolidating its market presence in both domestic and international arenas. Forecasts indicate a significant surge in residential air conditioner (RAC) volume by 2025, driven by the current low adoption rate of merely 7-8% among urban Indian households, in stark contrast to the 90% adoption observed in developed countries. The increasing preference for energy-efficient products is further fueling this heightened demand.

KJ Jawa, Daikin India’s Chairman & MD, underscored the company’s commitment to become the foremost manufacturer and supplier of air conditioning equipment, refrigeration, purification, and compressors both in India and globally. He highlighted Daikin’s dedication to environmental responsibility, aligning with the goal of achieving Net Zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. Jawa further emphasised the forthcoming factories’ mission to develop eco-friendly air conditioning systems tailored for diverse regions, encompassing East and West Africa, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, the Middle East, and South America.

Positioning itself within India’s reliable manufacturing landscape, supported by favourable policies and a progressive business environment, Daikin India is strategically positioned to capitalise on the anticipated surge in air conditioning demand over the next decade.
