Diversified agri-business firm Godrej Agrovet (GAVL) has introduced a groundbreaking pest control product, Rashinban, aimed at safeguarding chilli crops during their crucial flowering stage. A significant advancement in crop protection, the technology behind this innovative product was developed and patented by Japan’s renowned Nissan Chemical Corporation.

India is a global leader in chilli production, accounting for nearly 36% of the world’s total production. However, a staggering 80% of chilli crops are susceptible to damage during their early stages due to pest infestations, particularly by thrips, leps, hoppers, and mites. Rashinban has been formulated to combat these pests. The introduction of this product is a momentous occasion for Indian farmers as it enables them to access cutting-edge pest control solutions promptly, in contrast to previous instances when such products took years to reach the Indian market after their global launch.

Balram Singh Yadav, the Managing Director of GAVL, expressed his enthusiasm for the new product, stating that their new product is recommended specifically for the active flowering stage of chilli plants to provide holistic efficacy. He mentioned that, along with the existing products, Hanabi and Gracia, the addition of Rashinban to their portfolio would enable them to serve the entire value chain of the chilli crop. He expressed confidence that the launch of Rashinban would assist India in making significant contributions to the global chilli market. He added, “We are certain that the launch of Rashinban will help aid India’s contribution to global Chilli market scale greater heights.”

One of the distinguishing features of Rashinban is its effectiveness against a broad spectrum of pests. This eliminates the need for multiple insecticides and reduces the frequency of sprays required, offering farmers a more efficient and cost-effective solution. Previously, farmers relied on up to 45 different pesticides to combat 51 species of pests and two species of mites, a practice that Rashinban aims to simplify and improve.

Dr. Rajkumar Yadav, Managing Director of Nissan Chemical Corporation (India), expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration with GAVL, stating, “We are delighted to collaborate with GAVL for the global-first launch of Rashinban and contribute to the company’s endeavour to uplift Indian farming families. Rashinban is another result of our efforts to support the growth and sustainability of Indian agriculture. We are confident that like our previous products, Rashinban too will be widely adopted by the farming community.”
