BIA Brands, a prominent player in the FMCG sector, has taken a significant step by acquiring TrueKind, marking its expansion into skincare and the broader beauty and personal care (BPC) segment. Sudhakar Adapa, the CEO of BIA Brands, highlighted that this acquisition reflects the company’s strategic move to diversify its offerings and global presence. Adapa expressed a strong commitment to crafting and nurturing global brands originating from India, surpassing geographical boundaries and consumer expectations.

TrueKind, known for its commitment to authentic, effective, and environmentally friendly skincare solutions, offers a range of vegan and cruelty-free products. Adapa reiterated the company’s vision to introduce innovative products and expand its international reach through this acquisition. Keshav Biyani, the Founder of TrueKind, expressed confidence in BIA Brands to uphold TrueKind’s legacy of providing impactful skincare solutions and anticipated significant growth under the new leadership.

This acquisition enables BIA Brands, headquartered in Hyderabad and Dubai, to venture into skincare and cosmetics while catering to a younger demographic. BIA, founded in 2022, operates as a platform for various brands, having previously acquired Brew & Bliss, Nut-O-Licious, and La Kah Fay in the food and beverage sector. The recent appointment of Karen Wilson Kumar, a former manager at luxury brands Louis Vuitton and Ferragamo, as the Chief Executive Officer for the BPC segment, underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and consumer-centric product development.

The strategic acquisition of TrueKind by BIA Brands signals a notable shift in India’s FMCG landscape, showcasing growing investor interest in startups focused on consumer goods.
