United Breweries, one of India’s leading beer makers, is optimistic about achieving high single-digit volume growth in its business. The company has reported consistent momentum in the last two quarters, with 7-8% volume growth.

Vivek Gupta, MD & CEO of United Breweries, stated that the company is focused on building momentum behind innovation and category growth. The company aims to drive both volume and revenue growth over the next five years, not just the next two years. Gupta expects high single-digit volume growth in the business, supported by continuous efforts in innovation and category growth initiatives.

United Breweries recently launched Queenfisher, a beer targeted at women, which has received a positive response in the market. The company sees a significant opportunity to increase beer consumption among women, as the current penetration rate is less than 7%. Queenfisher, part of the Kingfisher family, aims to cater to women’s preferences with its low alcohol content and pleasant taste.

While Kingfisher remains the largest brand for United Breweries, the company has also introduced multiple innovations to meet various consumer needs. Gupta emphasised that Kingfisher continues to play a crucial role in driving category growth, and the company has witnessed a positive response to its campaigns across the country. United Breweries aims to gain market share through its innovations and maintain a balanced growth strategy.

The company’s progressive growth during the January-March 2022 quarter was attributed to the declining impact of the COVID-19 omicron variant. Heineken, United Breweries’ largest stakeholder, mentioned that the consolidation of United Breweries in India positively impacted net revenue by 200 million euros.

RTM Watch’s Take

United Breweries’ focus on innovation, category growth, and expanding its product portfolio reflects its commitment to meeting consumer needs and driving market growth. The launch of Queenfisher and other innovations demonstrates the company’s efforts to tap into new market segments and increase its market share. With a positive response to its recent campaigns and a strong performance in the domestic market, United Breweries is well-positioned for continued growth in the beer industry.
